Puraflo Peat Biofilter Most common alternative system in our area is the Puraflo Biofilter. Most noticable because of many green tops of tanks that are extremely visible and not very attractive. No maitence contracts available. Mostly maintence is the same as an conventional system, just have the filter cleaned annually and pumped every 3 to 5 Years. Estimated 20 to 25 Years before Peat Moss in tanks. As of now, there is no known company to contact to do this or answers of what to do when time to change it!! Average cost 20K to 25K
Ecoflo Peat Biofilter This system is becoming more and more popular in our area. Soil requirements are the same as Puraflo. Eight year service contract available from Ecoflo, best part is at the end of the eight years they come and change out the peat moss so it will be good for another eight years. Usally only one 3X5 top sticking out of the ground so it's not so unattractive. Average cost 15K to 20K
Advantext This system is not used as much around this area but there are a few out there. This system is basically a large filter that just keeps recirculating the waste water with other componets to clean the water. This is a very complex system and has lots of electical parts. This system is also monitored through the phone line to the manufactor to let them know what is going on at all times. There is not any maintence need aside from your 3 to 5 year pumping out of the tank. Average cost around 20K
Microfast This system is very close to a conventional system. To be simple it is a tank inside a tank. It is airated by a pump. Still has large drainfield. It is great for upgrades or repairs to old system or if you are adding bedrooms and need to upgrade you system without changing the drain field. Average cost 12K to 15K
Multiflo This is a very low maintenance, comes with 2 yr agreement and just requires your 3 to 5 year pump outs. Also good for upgrades or repairs, also requires large area for drainfield. Average cost around 15K
Drip Dispersal This system is pretty much your last resort and most expensive. This system is used with other pretreated system such as a microfast or puroflo system. You can twist the lines around trees or turn them if needed. You must be very careful what tree's are planted around the system. Average cost 30K to 50K
